The Photographer's residence project is a a small apartment renovation in Midtown Manhattan. Design objectives were to create the illusion of a larger space, and to separate the living and service areas through a variation in materials while maintaining a stylistic language that functions throughout the space.
Service Programmatic elements were encased in walnut paneling, creating a more ordered environment; a box within a box. The sleeping area was wrapped with a translucent material to allow the passage of light, yet maintain a degree of privacy. A long hallway was transformed into an art gallery through the use of specific lighting and mirrored panels.
